PREFACE: This poem is published to honor each birth mother who wants a better life for her baby, than she can provide; so, she appreciatively embraces Adoption’s Answer. She leaves a precious legacy, when she stands fast and protects, with love, courage and true dignity, her own child’s safety, future, and unique God-given destiny.
Hi!
I’m writing to thank you, my Birth Mom, for making the decision to allow life on that day.
Without support from your family, it would have been problem-solving to take the easy way.
Instead, you birthed, nurtured, cared for, and then gently released me, as the best option.
So, I could have a future that was safe, happy, guided by loving Parents of Adoption.
History shows, one day, in the distant past, you lost your focus, your objective, your way
And, you have paid for it dramatically and painfully, after that, every single heartfelt day.
There was no support for you anywhere, no plans of action, no counseling you received.
Back then, there was no helpful friend; you wanted ‘a solution with promise’ to be achieved.
I know that it wasn’t your choice to say goodbye; in fact, it was true desolation for you
They convinced you to yield, so you did what you thought was best for my future, it’s true
You believed two parents could do the right thing, create a new story, gain a reprieve
And you knew, just like you, I’d choose a purpose-filled life; to love, laugh, learn, achieve
My goals were mastered; needed degrees earned, so patients’ pain could be obliterated
It’s been a fulfilling life, helping others to be healthy, and then joining in as they celebrated.
The family time we missed hurt us then, but now we’re blessed because of your sacrifice
Mom, your gifts of my life’s birth and loving adoption have blessed my life, eternally, twice!
Your loving daughter,
New Day
