You are at risk of being called and charged for minutes!
Beginning March, 2010, ALL cell phone numbers will be released to Telemarketing Companies and you will start to receive sales calls. If you do NOT want to get these calls, which will be charged to your phone for the minutes, you have the opportunity to OPT OUT!
To prevent telemarketer calls, you must call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222
You can do this for ALL Phones (land lines too).
This is the National “DO NOT CALL” List.
It only takes less than a minute of your time. Your registration will not expire.*
Remember, you must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked.
You cannot call from a different phone number. And you must do this for every cell phone you want registered… or any phone number you own (including land line phones).
After entering your phone number, the recording will inform you that all unsolicited calls will have to stop after 31 days in the registry. If they persist, you can report a violation to www.donotcall.gov or by calling the main number – 888-323-1222.
NOTE: If you want a confirmation that this has been done, you should register online at: http://www.donotcall.gov
You will get an email to verify. When you click the link to the .gov site, it says: Registration Complete. You have registered the following telephone number (and it gives the number you registered). It also encourages you to PRINT A COPY OF THIS PAGE FOR YOUR RECORDS.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY
The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free.
The National Do Not Call Registry is managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency. It is enforced by the FTC, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and state law enforcement officials.
*Your registration will NOT expire. Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008.
