-- By Al Albrecht, Home Spun Poems
Home is where the heart is, where love should be all the time,
Respect and kindness, and peace and joy, that you can say are mine.
It's where in times of illness, concern comes from the heart,
And little acts of goodness, will always be a part.
Home is where there's hope and joy, and laughter does abound.
No matter when, or where, or how, that's where it's always found.
Don't ever let the blues come in, just pray them out the door,
Unfolding the Rosebud
-- By Helen Steiner Rice
It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
God opens this flower so sweetly,
In my hands it will fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom

'Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone
in a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone.
I had come down the chimney with presents to give
And to see whom in this home did live.
I looked all about. A strange sight I did see
No Tinsel. No presents. Not even a tree.
No stocking by the mantle just boots filled with sand.
On the wall hung pictures of far distant lands.
With medals and badges, awards of all kinds,
A sober thought came through my mind.
The Book of Life
-- Author unknown
I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
Pennies from Heaven
Remember this every time you pass a little penny in the parking lot. I always thought it was for Good Luck, but I like this version better. — Author Unknown I found a penny today Just laying on the ground, But it’s not just a penny This little coin I’ve …

Sometimes it takes a kid to point out the source of what is wrong with our country.
Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most public schools anymore because the word "God" is mentioned, a kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School Prayer.

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
A Friend
By Stephen Wayne Modawell
Where do they come from
Ones who just appear in life
Some finer than rum
Others closer than man an'wife
They may not be old
without them, what was before
Their warmth, on days' cold
Their presence we seek but more
How we want many
Yet we find so very few
treasured like a new penny
Their value great, one will do
When found, never let go
Too many years may pass, you see
Before God allows to flow
The gift of a friend like thee.
The Builders
-- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
All are architects of Fate,
Working in these wall of Time;
Some with massive deeds and great,
Some with ornaments of rhyme.
Nothing useless is, or low;
Each thing in its place is best;
And what seems but idle show
Strengthens and supports the rest.
For the structure that we raise,
Time is with materials filled;
Our todays and yesterdays
Are the blocks with which we build.
Truly shape and fashion these;

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
