Alabama Fishing A good ol' Alabama boy won a bass boat in a raffle drawing. He brought it home and his wife looks at him and says... "What you gonna do with that. There ain't no water deep enough to float a boat within 100 miles of here." He says, "I won it and I'm a-gonna keep it." His brother came over to visit several days later. He sees the wife and asks where his brother is. She says, "He's out there in his bass boat," pointing to the field behind the house. Confused, he wondered what was happening, and where the trail was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall that looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch topped by a golden letter "H" that glowed in the sunlight. New Year's Prayer by Charlotte Anselmo Thank you Lord for giving me The brand new year ahead Help me live the way I should As each new day I tread. Give me gentle wisdom That I might help a friend Give me strength and courage So a shoulder I might lend. The year ahead is empty Help me fill it with good things Each new day filled with joy And the happiness it brings. Please give the leaders of our world A courage born of peace That they might lead us gently And all the fighting cease. Please give to all upon this earth A heart that's filled with love A gentle happy way to live With Your blessings from above. ------------- The New Year lies before you, like a spotless track of snow... be careful how you tread on it, for every mark will show.
