Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told …

Keep Your Dream

horses on a ranch

I have a friend named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Ysidro. He has let me use his house to put on fund-raising events to raise money for youth at risk programs.

The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, “I want to tell you why I let Jack use my horse. It all goes back to a story about a young man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable to stable, race track to race track, farm to farm and ranch to ranch, training horses. She might have just wanted to get out of the house and see the big city, but after five years away from home, a 6-year-old cat named Willow is making her way back from New York to Colorado.

She ran out of her Colorado home while the property was being renovated and found herself in New York City, some 1,800 miles away. A good Samaritan found her on Manhattan's east side and brought her to the Animal Care & Control shelter in New York, where a scan of her microchip found that she wasn't from anywhere near the Big Apple.

Dirty Old Man

An elderly man in Louisiana owned a large farm for several years.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, to look it over, as he hadn't been there for a while.

Before he went, he grabbed a five-gallon bucket to bring back some fruit.

The Meaning of Life

a dog, a cow and a monkey

On the first day God created the cow. God said, "You must go to the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves, and give milk to support the farmer I will give you a life span of sixty years."

The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life... you want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty years and I'll give back the other forty." And God agreed.

Two-Minute Management Course

Warning... these lessons contain foul language

Lesson One

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing.

A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?"

The eagle answered: "Sure, why not."

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit, and ate it.

Management Lesson - To be sitting doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.
